A space where time has stopped
This building is a Karuizawa villa.
Thank you for visiting us to investigate the registered tangible cultural property. This house was completed here around 1928 (Showa 3) and has been used as a holiday home for three generations since then. The site faces Karuizawa's main tourist route, which runs from St. Paul's Catholic Church, built in 1935 (Showa 5), through Kashima Forest, and still retains much of its original appearance to this day . With four rooms on the second floor and one private room on the first floor, the house has been used to invite many people to Karuizawa in the summer and as a place to foster interaction since the days when Mount Asama could be seen from the site. In particular, the second owner, Kodaira Kunihiko,
It was also used as a seminar house during the time of (the first Japanese Fields Medal winner).
However, I would like to continue doing this for as long as I can.
